Dates: Monday 29th – Saturday 3rd August 2019
Timings: 8.45am – 5pm Monday – Friday; 8.45 – 1pm on Saturday
Ages: 8-18 years old**
Location: Capital City Academy, London NW10
Application form: 2019 Extravaganza Form
What to expect:
Each year we put on a different musical or opera, dedicating the whole week to learning the music, the script, the dance routines and painting the sets and props for the show.
There are 30 places in total for ages 8 – 18 including 12 places for teenagers.* You do not have to be either a Suzuki pupil or to play an instrument – but if you do play an instrument, do bring it along as there is lots of music!
The students are normally divided up for the week into groups according to sightreading ability and age. Every morning each group has an hour each of music, drama, dance and art. There is a half hour morning break and an hour long lunch break. There is lots of space to run around outside!
In the afternoon, we bring everyone together to start putting the different parts of the show into place. All parents are invited to see the performance on the Saturday morning.
What to bring:
Relaxed clothing and shoes you can do dance classes, art classes and generally run around in
Food! Please remember to bring enough food, snacks and – very importantly – water for the whole day. The days are jam packed and you will need lots of energy!
Instrument, music stand and pencil (if you play one)
Art apron (an old large t-shirt will be fine – just something you don’t mind getting paint all over)
Hats and suncream for warm days; jumpers for cooler days
“The Extravaganza was quite the best summer workshop either of my children have done in the last 20 years either in the UK or North America.” Lydia Evans – happy parent of a 2011/2012 participant
*All participants in our courses must be members of the British Suzuki Institute or their own national Suzuki institute and be able to provide their membership number on the application forms. Pupils who are taught by members of the London Suzuki Group will automatically be members of the BSI.
A £5.00 temporary membership is available to non-Suzuki pupils who wish to take part which ensures that all participants are covered by public liability insurance for the duration of the courses whilst not conferring any benefits.
Fees are only refundable if the course is full and there is a waiting list candidate who can take up the place at short notice.
**Please note that as we want to maintain a range of ages, places for children under 8 are limited. Contact us for more information on firstname.lastname@example.org
